Biography
Dr Matthew Hourigan graduated from the University of Queensland in 1999. He completed his specialist training in haematology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2008 and the Royal College of Pathology of Australasia in 2009. In 2008 and 2009, Dr Hourigan undertook a fellowship at University College Hospital in London, with his work focusing on state-of-the-art therapy for malignant bone marrow disorders, including autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplatation.
With a special interest in malignant blood disorders, Dr Hourigan takes an active role in the care of patients with acute and chronic leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative disorders and autologous stem cell transplantation. He has presented and published several papers in these areas and continues to participate in clinical research.
Dr Hourigan currently practices from Icon Cancer Centre Wesley and Redland and consults at Greenslopes Private Hospital and Mater Private Hospital Redland.
